The length of a room is three times its breadth. If the perimeter of the room is 64 cm, then its breadth is ?cm.
A64
B32
C16
D8

Answer: D [8]
Explanation:

Let the width of the room be denoted by 'W'
Since the room is three times as long as its width, length will be '3W'

remember perimeter of a rectangle is =  2(length + width) and is given in the question as 64 meters.
       Perimeter =  2 (length + width)
                  64 = 2 (3W + W)
                  64 = 2 (4W)
                  64 = 8W
(Dividing both sides by 8), gives
                  8 = W

So width of the room is 58 meters.
