If the length and breadth of a rectangle are in the ratio 3 : 2 and its perimeter is 20 cm, then the area of the rectangle (in $cm^2$) is
A24 $cm^2$
B36 $cm^2$
C48 $cm^2$
D12 $cm^2$

Correct answer is: \(24 \text{ } cm^2\)

Explanation:

\(\Large 2(l+b)=20cm\)

\(\Large 2(3x+2x)=20cm\)
\(\Large 2 \times 5x=20cm\)

\(\Large 10x=20\)

\(\Large x=2\)

\(\therefore length = 3 \times 2=6cm\)

\(breadth = 2 \times 2=4cm\)

\(area = length \times breadth\)

\(\Large =6 \times 4=24 \text{ } cm^{2}\)
