Explanation:

Discount of 40% on Rs.500

=500×40100= Rs.200

and single discount per cent equivalent to 36% and 4%

=(r1+r2r1r2100)%

=38.56×500100=Rs.192.80

Hence, required difference = (200 - 192.80} = Rs.7. 20
