Let x be the number of days required to do the job:
(x-7)(1/18)+(x-8)(1/27)+x(1/36) = 1 job

(2x-14+x)(1/36)+(x-8)(1/27) = 1 job

3(3x-14)+4(x-8)(1/108)=1 job

(9x-42+4x-32)/(108) = 1 job

(13x-74)= 108

13x = 182

x = 14

Explanation

If amount lend at 4% interest = x

and at 6% interest = 1200 -x

Given, \(\Big(\frac{x \times 3 \times 4}{100}\Big)+\Big(\frac{(1200-x)\times3\times6}{100}\Big)=192\)

\(=>\frac{12x}{100}+\frac{21600}{100}-\frac{18x}{100 }= 192\)

\(=>\frac{12x+21600-18x}{100} = 192\)

\(=> \frac{-6x+21600}{100}=192\)

\(=> 21600 -6x = 19200\)

\(=>6 x = 21600 -19200 \)

\(=> 6x = 2400\)

\(=> x = 400\)

\(\therefore \text{ the money lent on 6% rate is } = 1200 -x \)

= 1200 - 400

=800

Case 1 : amount becomes 2x => simple interest = x
Case 2 : amount becomes 4x => simple interest = 3x

\(SI= \frac{P \times R \times T}{100}\)
i.e., SI ∝ T (when Rate of interest is constant)
x  ∝ 7
3x ∝ n

\(\frac{x}{3x} = \frac{7}{n}\)

\(=> \frac{1}{3}=\frac{7}{n}\)

\(=> n = 7 \times 3\)

n =  21 years
