In an examination 65% of the total examinees passed. If the number of failures is 420, the total number of examinees are.
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 5 '2016 at 10:8
Answer is: 1200
Percentage of failures = (100 − 65)% = 35%
Let the total number of examinees be x.
Then,
35% of x = 420
⇒ 35 * 100 * x = 420
⇒ x = 420 * 100 *35
=> 1200
If 7 : 8 :: x : 24, value of x is
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 5 '2016 at 10:6
Answer is : 21
If four numbers p, q, r and s are in proportion, then p and s are called the extreme terms and q and r are called the middle terms. Then, the product of extreme terms (i.e. p × s) is equal to the product of middle terms (i.e. r × s).
Therefore, p : q : : r : s ⇒ ps = qr
According to the given statement,
7 : 8 = x : 24
⇒ 8*x= 7 × 24
⇒ x = \((7 × 24)\over8\)
⇒ x = 21
A reduction of 20% in the price of sugar enables a housewife to purchase 6 kg more for Rs. 120. What is original price per kg of sugar.
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 5 '2016 at 9:54
Answer is : Rs. 5 per kg
It is based on inverse proportion property
Reduction in price 20% amount of sugar will increase 25%.
It means,
25% = 6 Kg. So,
100% = 6*4 = 24Kg.
Thus,
Original price of the sugar was,
\(120\over24\) = Rs. 5 per kg.
A can do a piece of work in 18 days. B in 27 days and C in 36 days. They start working together but only C work till the completion. A leaves 7 days and B leaves 8 days before the completion of work. The whole work was completed in.
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 5 '2016 at 0:36
Answer is : 12 days
Let the work be completed in x days
(x-4) days of A + (x-6) days of B + x days of C = 1
\(\implies \frac{x-4}{18} + \frac{x-6}{27} + \frac{x}{36} =1\)
\(\implies \frac{13x-48}{108} =1\)
so, x=12
A man lends Rs. 1,200 for 3 years. A part he lends on 4% and rest on 6% and receives Rs. 192 as interest. The money he lent on 6% rate is
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 5 '2016 at 0:29
Answer is : Rs. 800
If amount lend at 4% interest=x
SI = (P * T * R) / 100
Where P = x , T(Time) = 3yr , R (rate) = 4%
SI = \((x * 3 * 4)\over100 \)
SI = \(12x\over100\) ......................(i)and at 6% interest=1200-x
\(SI = \frac{(P * T * R) }{100}\)
Where P = (1200-x) , T(Time) = 3yr , R (rate) = 6%
\(SI = \frac{(1200-x) * 3 * 6}{100} \)
\(SI = \frac{(1200-x) * 18}{100}\)
\(SI = \frac{(21600 - 18x)}{100}\) ..................(ii)Total interest is = 192
equation (i) + (ii) =192
\((12x)\over100 \)+ \((21600-18x)\over100\) = 192
\(\frac{(12x + 21600 - 18x)}{100} = 192\)
12x + 21600 -18x = 19200
21600 - 6x =19200
6x = 21600 - 19200
6x = 2400
x=400Finally, The money he lent on 6% rate is = 1200-x
=1200 - 400
=800
A room is 12 (1/4) m long and 7m wide. The maximum lenght of a square tile to fill 4 the floor of room with whole number of tiles, should be
shyam ? Dec 20 '2019 at 10:41
Correct answer is: 175 cm
Explanation:
l = 1225cm and b= 700cm
Maximum length of the square tile
= H.C.F of (1225cm , 700cm) = 175cm
Which of the following fractions is less than 1/5 ?
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 4 '2016 at 23:34
Answer is : \( 2\over11\)
multiply value of question and all option value with 5.
now question becomes,
which of following is less than (1/5)*5 which is 1. .
now option becomes,
option a: \((8*5)\over35\) = \(45\over35 \)which is greater than 1.
option b: \((8*5)\over37\) = \(45\over37\) which is greater than 1.
option c: \((2*5)\over11\) = \(10\over11\) which is less than 1.
option d: \((8*5)\over39\) = \(\frac{40}{39}\) which is greater than 1.
so answer is \(\frac{2}{11}\).
