8 men and 4 women together can complete a piece of work in 6 days. Work done by a man in one day is double the work done bya woman in one day. If 8 men and 4 women started working and after 2 days, 4 men left and 4 new women joined, in how many more days will the work be completed ?
A5 days
B 8 days
C6 days
D4 days

Answer is : 5 days

Explanation:

According to the question,1 man = 2 women

\(\therefore\) 8 men + 4 women

= (16 + 4) women = 20 women

4 men + 8 women = 16 women

20 women’s 2 days’ work

= \(\frac{2}{6} = \frac{1}{3}\) Part

Remaining work = \(1 -\frac{1}{3} = \frac{2}{3}\)

20 women complete 1 work in 6 days.

16 women will do \(\frac{2}{3}\) work in

= \(\frac{20\times6}{16} \times \frac{2}{3}\) = 5 days
