A 120 metre long train running at 40 km/h will cross a bridge 80 m long in
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 4 '2016 at 23:30
Answer is : 18 seconds
Total Distance = Train length + bridge distance
= 120 metre + 80 metre
= 200 metre.
Speed Of Train = 40 km/h
\(=\frac{(40*1000)}{(60 *60)} m/s\)
Time To Cross a bridge = \((distance)\over(time)\)=\(\frac{\frac{200}{ (40*1000)}}{(60 *60)}\)
\(=\frac{(200 * 60 * 60)}{(40 * 1000)}\)
= 18s
Ravi invested Rs. 913 partly in 4% stock at Rs. 97 and partly in 5% stock at Rs.107. If his income from both is equal, amount invested on first stock was.
Akilesh Kharvi ? Nov 4 '2016 at 20:54
Correct Answer is : 485
Let he invests x in 4% stock and y in 5% stock
On 97 he earns Rs.4.
On x he earns \(4x \over 97 \)
Similarly on y he will earns \(5y \over 107 \)
\(4x \over 97\) = \(5y \over 107 \)
x = \(485y \over 428 \)
x + y = 913
Substituting the value of x we get y = 428
First installment = 485
If a commission of 20% is given on the written price, the gain is 60%. What will be the percentage of gain if the commission is increased to 25%?
Akilesh Kharvi ? Wed Oct 26 2016 12:30:00 GMT+0530 (IST)
Answer is : 0.5
Let the written price = Rs.100
commission = Rs.20
selling price = 100-20 = Rs.80
gain = 60%
cost price =\(80 \times 100 \over 160\) = Rs.50
if the commission is increased to 25%,
selling price = 100-25 = Rs.75
new gain =\((75−50)\over 50\)=\(25 \over 50\)=0.5
Anil sells two houses at the same prices. On one he makes a profit of 10% and on the other he suffers a loss of 10%. Select the correct statement.
Akilesh Kharvi ? Wed Oct 26 2016 12:30:00 GMT+0530 (IST)
Answer is : He suffers a loss of 1%
Explanation:
% Final Loss = \(\frac{\%loss \text{ } \times \text{ } \% \text{gain}}{100}\)= \(\frac{10 \times 10}{100} \)
= 1% loss.
Ram has Rs. 6 more than Mohan and Rs. 9 more than Sohan. All the three have Rs. 33 in all. Ram has a share of
rohith ? Jan 2 '2020 at 11:30
Correct answer is: Rs. 16
Explanation:
Lets ram's money be x
Then mohan's money will be = (x - 6)
Sohan's money will be = (x - 9)
Then
x + (x - 6) + (x - 9) = 33
x + x - 6 + x - 9 = 33
x + x + x - 6 - 9 = 33
3 x - 15 = 33
3 x = 33 + 15
3 x = 48
x = 48 /3
x = 16
So Ram has a share of 16 rupees
The average temperature for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was 40 °C. The verage for Tuesday, a Wednesday and Thursday was 41°C. If the temperature on Thursday was 42°C, what was the temperature on Monday?
Akilesh Kharvi ? Tue Oct 25 2016 12:30:00 GMT+0530 (IST)
Answer is : 39
The average temperature of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday = \(40 ^ 0 c\)
The sum of their days = 3 x 40 = \(120^0 C\)
The average temperature of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday = \(41^0 C\)
the sum of their days = 41 x 3 = \(123 ^0C\)
The temperature of Thursday = \(42^0C\)
Therefore, the temperature Tuesday and Wednesday = 123 – 42 = 81
the temperature of Monday = 120 – 81 = \(39^oC\)
